German perfectionism slows down digitalization

No CommentsAn online survey of 868 companies – primarily from the SME sector – conducted by the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) revealed that the digitalization of business processes still lags far behind the possibilities. The survey asked about the degree of digitalization of 41 processes for which technologies and solutions are already known and available today. On a scale from 1 (no digitalization) to 4 (largely integrated digitalization), the participating companies were able to rate their processes.
The results are almost devastating. Even with procurement processes as the frontrunner, the average degree of digitalization is 2.18 (digitalized to a low degree).In a nutshell: Shelf life

At first glance, sales forecasting is easy for suppliers to the aerospace industry. Thanks to the tw. The demand forecast and the so-called cadences of the major aircraft manufacturers, which provide information on the expected monthly construction figures for the individual aircraft models, allow us to forecast demand figures very far in advance. On closer inspection, however, the supposedly comfortable forecasting situation turns out to be much more complex, uncertain and incomplete than one would think, because forecasting horizons and dosage forms vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, for example, forecasting qualities fluctuate or real orders and forecasting periods overlap. If you also want to develop an organizational and technically easy-to-handle overall concept for a consistent, automatic and rolling 24-month requirements forecast with automated calculation and control of the key figures from the patchwork of CSV files, Excel tables and PFDs, you should not try to do this in Excel. Instead, professional tools should be used that can massively reduce the complex planning effort.
