6 S is an extended concept of “order and cleanliness” developed by Toyota. The aim is to design the workstations in six stages in such a clear and well-structured way that work can be done as efficiently as possible without distraction, searching and long distances (avoiding waste).
\nThe optimization levels include<\/p>\n

  1. sorting out what is unnecessary,<\/li>\n
  2. the ready-to-hand positioning of tools and parts,<\/li>\n
  3. regular independent cleaning of the workplace,<\/li>\n
  4. the observance of cleanliness,<\/li>\n
  5. practicing the necessary self-discipline and ultimately <\/li>\n
  6. internalizing the concept until it becomes a matter of course.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
