Changes planned for SME funding

Subsidies of up to 67% for material efficiency projects

The economic growth proclaimed by all sides presents small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a further challenge: in order to obtain the necessary liquidity, they are currently trying in vain to expand their credit. In the manufacturing industry in particular, there is an opportunity to reduce the largest cost block by improving material efficiency. The state is currently promoting such optimization projects for SMEs. As the conditions for these subsidies will change at short notice, manufacturing companies with fewer than 250 employees should act quickly and apply for their subsidies. Abels & Kemmner GmbH makes its expertise from many successful projects to improve material efficiency available to SMEs free of charge in information talks and webinars.

Funding conditions should change as early as April 2011

While the economy in Germany continues to boom, small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in particular are struggling with rising material costs. According to the Federal Statistical Office, these account for around 45% of annual company costs and are therefore well ahead of personnel costs, which make up around 18%. It is difficult to invest in your own growth under these conditions.
The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has therefore launched an impulse funding program for SMEs, which currently subsidizes consulting, coaching and training in material efficiency by up to 67%.
Dr. Götz-Andreas Kemmner, Managing Director of Abels & Kemmner Gesellschaft für Unternehmensberatung mbH, on the conditions of the impulse programme: “The funding conditions will change in the coming months. We have information that a changeover was already planned for April 1, 2011, but has been delayed due to scheduling problems between the BMWi and the Ministry of Finance.”

Funding only for companies with up to 249 employees

Projects that contribute to reducing the proportion of materials in the company’s total costs through constructive, organizational and planning measures are, for example, potential analyses. Companies with fewer than 250 employees and a maximum annual turnover of EUR 50 million or a maximum annual balance sheet total of EUR 43 million receive a subsidy of up to 67% for such measures and 33% for subsequent in-depth projects.
Abels & Kemmner GmbH has gained a great deal of expertise in the application process and project implementation from supporting many projects to optimize material efficiency, which it makes available to SMEs free of charge. Therefore, business, production and plant managers of small and medium-sized companies can contact Abels & Kemmner GmbH with questions about the Material Efficiency Impulse Funding Program and the application process and register for a free webinar on 27.05.2011 or 06.06.2011.
