How to calculate replenishment correctly, interpret it reliably and introduce it successfully in the way of a supermarket
The Japanese word ‘kanban’ means ‘sign’ or ‘card’ and describes a manufacturing control and procurement principle which works just like a supermarket.
The preceding inventory level in the value stream replenishes the amount of items that the client has taken from storage. In this way, demands are handed over from inventory level to inventory level. Kanban offers low WIP levels, reliable delivery and simple, reliable production control and purchasing. Yet kanban alone does not always make sense and is not always an economic solution. A&K’s kanban solutions aim for reliable delivery readiness and minimal stocks, whether they are entirely manual, entirely electronic, or hybrid. To achieve this, we use purpose-developed algorithms and our simulation system.
A&K will gladly assist you with the implementation of each step or set up your kanban system ready to use. Our proven approach: After analysing your product portfolio, we identify the range of items which profit from a kanban system. Afterwards, we calculate the necessary WIP inventories (kanban cards) properly and design the kanban organisation. In the last step, we connect the kanban system to your ERP or SAP system. As you will need to re-adjust and re-adapt your kanban system regularly, we will provide you with the appropriate tools to do so.
